First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sony Electronics.
Manager
The interview process was pretty standard and overall a great experience. The employees were professional, friendly, and passionate about their jobs and the company. My only feedback is about using Teams, which is more of a Microsoft issue than Sony's. Every interview on Teams had some sort of problem, whether it was with the universal link or even downloading the app, which made me a bit late sometimes. Here's how it went: I found the job on LinkedIn and applied through Workday. About two weeks later, the recruiter contacted me for a screening interview where I talked about my work experience and answered some position-related questions. Then, I had three more interviews: one with the hiring manager, a virtual panel with 5 cross-functional teammates, and finally, one with the head of the department.
- What are your reasons for wanting to join Sony?
Business Manager
The whole thing took a bit over 4 weeks. It started with the Recruiting Coordinator sending over a basic questionnaire. Then there were 3 rounds: first, a peer interview with senior managers in similar roles, focusing on behavioral aspects. After that, I had interviews with the hiring manager and a panel, also behavioral. Finally, a VP interview to gauge my motivation and overall behavior. On the plus side, the hiring team was really helpful and nice to talk to, and the job scope was clear. On the downside, the main recruiter was pretty bad at responding and kept changing, so I dealt with 3 different people throughout. Plus, they never gave me any info on the benefits.
- Can you discuss some business-related scenarios you've encountered?
- Describe your methods for managing stakeholders.
- Could you share an instance where data analysis was key to resolving a business issue?
Management Trainee
The interview had some challenging questions. The interviewer was really nice and seemed genuinely interested in understanding my motivations and future goals, like where I see myself in 5 years.
- Could you tell me which market segment Sony operates in?
- How does Sony compare to its competitors in terms of performance?
- Who are some of Sony's main competitors?
