I went through a pretty long interview process with Shipt. It started with a recruiter call, then a hiring manager interview, and finally, four Zoom interviews that made up the onsite part. All in all, I had six interviews spread out over about a month. The recruiter was pretty unresponsive, only getting back to me when it was about scheduling, but not for any other questions I had. The interviewers were just okay, nothing special. After the last interview, which was a panel, I waited three days and sent a follow-up to the recruiter, then four days later sent one to the hiring manager. Still no response. It's really frustrating to be ghosted after the final interview, especially when I was always polite and professional. It felt like I was just an afterthought. Even if you're not moving forward, a simple email or message saying so would be the decent thing to do. My whole experience with Shipt was a big letdown.

I'd spoken with Shipt before, and the recruiter who screened me remembered me from our previous interactions. She brought up our past discussions and wanted to quickly confirm my salary expectations to ensure they matched the role, making sure we wouldn't waste time. Our expectations were a bit off, so she mentioned some other roles that might fit my desired salary range better and said she'd keep me in mind if anything interesting came up. We ended up spending the entire scheduled time talking about career paths that went beyond the specific job, which I felt was a really nice extra touch.

The interview process started well. First, I had a phone screening with the recruiter, who was friendly, easy to talk to, and gave me all the info I needed. Then, I had a chat with the hiring manager, which was also nice. It was a chill and honest talk, and he said he'd set up the next round, which would be technical. He said he'd tell the recruiter to set it up. I sent a thank you note to the hiring manager the next day. After a few days without hearing from the recruiter, I reached out with my availability for the next week, hoping to speed things up. Sadly, I got no reply. Almost two weeks went by with no contact. At this point, I wasn't sure if I'd move forward, but I still wanted a response. I emailed again, giving my availability and asking for an update. They finally got back to me, saying they'd gone with another candidate. Even though Shipt seems like a cool place to work, the interview process was a letdown.

I was expecting more out of Shipt and am quite disappointed. I applied online and within 2 weeks received a call from HR. She said she would be skipping the typical questions since the hiring manager already decided he wanted to interview me. That was scheduled and occurred about a week later. He was a few minutes late and the first thing he said was that I had a great resume. It was a pleasant conversation, and he provided a detailed account of the process where I made the initial cut of 8 people and he would reduce it down to 4 that would speak with 2 other folks. From there, it would go down to 2 people that would speak with him again. He said I should hear something by the end of the next week since he saw no reason why I wouldn't be selected as part of the 4. I never heard anything and followed up with the person that scheduled the interview and a day later she said she would check with the recruiter (I thought she was the recruiter). Anyway, I still have never heard anything which is really tacky and unprofessional. Luckily, I didn't waste weeks of my time as I have read elsewhere here and at least the hiring manager knows his craft.
