Case Presentation

I had multiple interviews for an equity analyst position with Schroders last year. They requested two case studies that took over 3 weeks to complete and involved creating a 30-slide presentation and a fully built model. Towards the end of the process, after the final interview, I was told the role was on hold to allow an internal candidate to join. I was then ghosted with no follow-up, and HR ignored my emails asking for updates. I later found out they hired the internal candidate after 3 months, with no communication, acknowledgement, or feedback from them.

It started with a psychometric test and a Hirevue. If I passed that, I was invited to an Assessment Centre (AC). The AC had a group case study where we worked in groups of 3/4, and then an individual case study which we had to present to the firm's members. The interview itself was pretty relaxed, and the team and HR were nice and friendly.

Behavioral

This was the second time in 3 years that I've had several interviews at Schroders and been ghosted. The whole interview process really left much to be desired. Communication was poor and there was a lack of professionalism. An internal recruiter initially scheduled a call, only to cancel last minute with no explanation. The following week, I had an interview that seemed to go well. However, Schroder then proceeded to ghost me. I sent follow-up emails asking for feedback or an update, but got no response. This lack of courtesy is unacceptable for a company of Schroder's stature. Overall, the process was disorganised and reflected poorly on the company's values. Potential applicants should be aware they may face similar treatment.

Coding Technical

Applied via recruiter. First was a take-home coding test focused on performance, formatting, and production-level quality. Took 4 business days to hear back after chasing recruiter a few times. Response from recruiter was: 'Unfortunately we don't want to progress with the (candidate). Incorrect approach.' Refused to give more feedback as 'it gives away the game for future candidates'. Challenge was okay, but feedback was bad. Saying an incorrect approach was used when none was specified is weird. Would have expected discussion or useful feedback instead of wasting candidate time. Fine not proceeding, but would appreciate being upfront and/or more detailed.
