Designer
It was a frustrating and kind of concerning interview. During the last round with the designer, they mentioned that a test design project would be given, and HR would provide the specifics. I asked upfront if the work would be used, given a past negative experience where my design work was used without permission after a test project. So, I wanted to be upfront and cautious. I'd already submitted my portfolio earlier, and shared it again with HR, so my work was already clear. After that chat, I never got the test assignment or any follow-up. The silence made the process feel unclear and made me wonder if the role was real or if they were just assigning projects for internal KPIs instead of hiring. Overall, it lacked transparency and follow-through. Candidates' time, effort, and IP should be respected, especially with unpaid work.
- Regarding the test design project, would the work actually be utilized?
- What are your thoughts on doing unpaid design work as part of the process?
Manager
Recruiter reached out for a phone screen, but then canceled and rescheduled. They seemed uninformed. A hiring manager interview was verbally set up but no link was sent, and after no response to follow-ups, it was rescheduled twice. The hiring manager was condescending despite being unprofessional and lacking knowledge. The actual hiring manager interview was typical; this person seemed competent and could describe the job. I was told to await an email from the recruiter about next steps, but was ghosted. It seems they wanted someone to fix their messy systems for below-average pay.
- What motivated your interest in this company and role?
Site Merchandiser
I applied in October and didn't hear back until November. I had a phone interview with the recruiter which went well, and she passed me to the hiring manager. My interview with the hiring manager was great, and they said they would move me to the next step. A week passed with no communication, so I reached out and was given a take-home project. It was a PowerPoint project where I had to merchandise products from their site. I completed and sent it in early, but after another week and a half of no response, I reached out again. They told me they were going with another candidate. I feel like they would have ghosted me if I hadn't followed up. It was a long process of waiting and interviewing, only to be rejected without any explanation.
- Can you describe your past job experiences?
Customer Service Representative
I applied on LinkedIn and 3 days later I got an email with the tests that are needed for the role, and scheduled a virtual interview the day after with Christa. She was very nice to speak to, asked my experiences in retail, customer service and remote work as well as a few questions about my thoughts on OT, how I handled challenges in previous roles and what interested me in the job. It was overall the best interview experience I’ve had with a large company, and made me feel excited about the opportunity to work for Revolve.
- Can you share an instance where a customer requested an accommodation or exception that you couldn't grant, and describe how you handled it and what solutions you proposed?
- Describe a situation where you received feedback from a manager that you disagreed with or felt was unwarranted.
