Behavioral Technical Presentation

So the interview process had a recruiter call, then a hiring manager call, then there was a writing assessment, and finally a peer interview. The position was actually put on hold before the 4th round interview. The writing assessment was pretty involved - it was about creating a creative brief for an ABM marketing strategy. Honestly, it felt a bit outside the scope of the job description and I felt like it needed more info than what they gave us.

Technical Behavioral

The hiring process started with a quick screening call, under 20 minutes. This was followed by a combined coffee chat and technical interview session lasting 105 minutes (30 minutes for chat, 75 for technical). The final stage involved spending a full day at their office, from 9 AM to 3 PM. My main takeaway is that Pushpay has a very specific profile they're looking for, with little room for flexibility if you don't perfectly match the job description. They seem to strictly value technical skills, as there were no behavioral questions asked. The technical interview questions were quite tailored to the senior engineer's specific preferences. It was a bit disappointing that while candidates are required to visit the on-site office, some senior team members only appeared via Zoom, which felt disrespectful. The HR wasn't very clear about the interview stages during the initial phone screening; I wasn't explicitly told about the full day in the office until after I passed the second stage, making it hard to back out. This day-long onsite visit is a significant time commitment for candidates, and it felt like they were assessing operational skills like a robot rather than a person. To top it off, after this long process, the feedback for unsuccessful candidates was generic and unhelpful, which was the most disappointing part and confirmed my initial unease.

Behavioral Technical

I had a panel interview for the Senior Analyst, Finance - Processing Business Partner role. It involved multiple team members from finance, product, and operations. They asked both technical and behavioral questions about how I approach financial analysis, forecasting, and working with other teams. They were interested in my experience with large datasets and turning that data into insights. I was asked about using tools like Power BI and SQL to make business decisions and improve performance. I also had to talk about managing priorities and projects with tight deadlines while working with different teams. It was a good chance to see how the team at Pushpay works and how the role helps the company's goals. I really liked the collaborative vibe and the focus on new ideas.

Technical Coding

The process was longer than necessary, starting with an online test followed by a detailed discussion about company culture before the technical interview. I had to spend 30 minutes learning about the company, which felt like a waste of time since I didn’t pass the technical interview. It would make more sense to cover this information only after determining if the candidate passes the technical round.
