First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Pottery Barn.
Merchandise Coordinator
It was a long process, starting with a hiring manager, then a panel interview, and finally meeting another upper management member. It took a while to get updates on next steps after the interview rounds finished. I heard back after a month and got an offer, then had to wait two more weeks for the official offer.
- Could you tell me about your favorite products available on the website?
Marketing
Phew. Weirdest and worst interview I've ever experienced. Had an initial call with recruitment, went well. Business as usual. Confirmed experience, outlined expectations. Second interview with who would be the position's manager was another story. Immediately upon joining the call it was clear the interviewee was not interested in anything I had to say. They started talking to someone who entered the room while I was answering a question, with no apologies. Heinous energy from the get-go, which leads me to ask: if you're already disinterested, why interview? One must also remember: those being interviewed are not the only ones assessing. I asked about company culture, and it was "hard to say." AKA, it's bad. Points for showing true colors, at the very least.
- What made you interested in Pottery Barn?
Merchandise Analyst
The process moved quickly and the recruiter was very responsive. I advanced to the onsite interview, and initially heard there might be another interview after that. However, they then told me the onsite was the final round before that, which was a bit confusing. After the onsite, I didn't hear anything until I reached out myself. I was then informed of the rejection, and later saw the job reposted online.
- Could you share your favorite movie and explain your choice?
Copywriter
I applied through the Pottery Barn Careers page and an internal recruiter reached out to me to schedule an initial screening call about two weeks later. The following week, I had a Zoom interview with the hiring manager who was the Senior Manager of Editorial and the VP of creative. I did not move onto the next interview stage.
- What aspects of the Pottery Barn tone of voice do you find appealing, and what areas do you believe could be enhanced?
