So first there were two phone calls before the in person, one with HR and then one with the hiring manager. Everything seemed good until they asked me to do a design test. They sent me some professional photos, sales copy for the season, and templates for an email and homepage. I felt like they were really eager to get my layered files before the in-person interview, which seemed a bit off. It felt like asking me to do free work, which I thought was unethical, especially for a big company that could afford to pay for a trial period instead of asking for free work that they might even use without paying me. That's when I realized what was going on and stopped the interview process. I don't think they need layered files to judge my design skills; a JPG reviewed during the in-person should be enough.

I completed a paper application that seemed very outdated, which made me question the company's current practices.
