The interview was pretty straightforward. They mainly wanted to gauge my experience level and discuss the daily tasks involved. A significant part of the conversation focused on my familiarity with animals and my comfort level with handling them and carrying out animal-related duties. Overall, it was a positive experience.

It was a quick interview. They asked about my comfort level with animals and fish, and about my past work experience. I had to take a drug test and a background check, and then I was hired the following week.

When you go in for your interview, you should dress nicely, even if you're a teenager applying for your very first job because how you present yourself does matter. They might ask you questions about how familiar you are with the store, what makes it stand out from competitors, and why you decided to apply there. Think about times from previous jobs or school where you provided excellent customer service or dealt with challenging customers.

The interview process was straightforward, though it was a bit unusual because it wasn't a one-on-one interview; another candidate was present. Before we began, the interviewer mentioned she was an assistant to the supervisor and that the supervisor would be conducting our second interview, which struck me as odd for a job near minimum wage. She asked basic questions from a list and then explained that there were three different job openings: stocker, pet care, and cashier, details not provided in the application. It wasn't a bad experience, just peculiar compared to other minimum wage job interviews.

  • Could you start by telling us a bit about yourself?
  • What would you contribute to our team if we offered you this position?
  • Can you name three strengths and three weaknesses you possess?
