First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Peet's Coffee.
Barista
The interview took a bit longer than I expected, they even brought in the assistant manager to talk with me. But it went pretty well overall, so it wasn't too bad. They asked me stuff about customer service, some situations, my past experiences, and I remember they asked a lot about how to figure things out when problems come up.
- How would you deal with a customer who wasn't satisfied?
- What are your experiences with customer service?
- Can you share a time you had to solve a problem?
Accountant
A third party recruiter reached out to me first and kept me updated. My first interview was with the hiring manager, which I felt went well. The hiring manager mentioned the next steps and said an internal recruiter would contact me the following week, but due to the holidays, there was a delay. Unfortunately, I never heard back from any recruiter about the next steps or even got a rejection email. It's interesting because one of Peet's values is Accountability, which they really seemed to want to check for in candidates, but I didn't see that value reflected by the people in charge of the hiring process for this role.
- What are some examples of how you've shown accountability in past jobs?
- Describe a situation where you owned up to an error.
- How do you make sure you follow through on what you promise?
Cashier Barista
So, I had an interview with a manager from another store location first. They asked me some questions about handling tough customers. Then, I talked to the manager of the actual store I applied for. Overall, it was a good process, and if you have customer service experience, you'll probably do fine.
- What does customer service mean to you?
Demand Planner
The first step was a phone screen with HR. They wanted to talk about my background and go over my resume. They also asked if I would relocate for the job. I said no and they said they aren't hiring for remote positions.
- Could you elaborate on your previous role?
- Tell me about your experience.
- Walk me through your resume.
