First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Old Mutual.
Sales Representative
I met with around 7 people for the interview and they were all really nice and professional. They started with some general interview questions, then asked about sales-specific stuff. They also asked what I expect to make for salary, and they really pushed for a number which made me uncomfortable.
- What salary range are you looking for?
Compliance Specialist
The interview process is pretty straightforward, but each question has a golden question you need to answer. It's scenario-based, and when answering, you also need to give a scenario, but showcase the golden question, which is normally a competency that the panel is looking to find in your answer.
- Can you share an instance where your manager offered critical feedback on your work and how you responded?
- Tell me about a time a manager gave you critical criticism about your work and how you handled it.
Financial Advisor
You'll start by sending in your application through their online careers portal. After that, a recruiter might get in touch, or you might have to do an online assessment. The first interview is with HR and the hiring manager, where they'll chat about your background, what motivates you, and if you're a good fit. Then, for Round 2, you'll interview with the Head of Department to go over your skills and experience in more detail. Depending on the role, there could be a third round, which might be a live test or another online assessment to see how you'd handle client interactions or specific tasks.
- Can you describe a situation where you dealt with a challenging client?
- What is your motivation for seeking employment with Old Mutual?
- How do you differentiate yourself from other applicants?
Bank Teller
The interview focuses on business math and strong client interaction skills, with teamwork being key to hitting company targets. It's a role with significant cash handling and security is super important, so you need to be alert. Most questions will touch on security as a reminder.
- What made you want to work at a bank?
- Can you explain your motivation for choosing a career in banking?
- How do you contribute to teamwork to meet organizational objectives?
