I applied in early October and the whole thing was pretty seamless. Towards the end of November, they had me do a digital interview with some typical questions. Then, in early January, I got an invite for a panel interview with the specific team I was being considered for. The actual interview with the team happened at the end of January where they asked me directly about myself, my resume, and how I could contribute to the team. I got an offer a week after that.

I applied for the job, and a recruiter for the NBA contacted me. We had an initial call, then I interviewed with the head of marketing. The interview was okay, but I realized the role was more operational than the title implied. The job description did hint at it, but the title was misleading. I wasn't interested anymore and would have withdrawn if I got a second interview. But I never heard back. It's unprofessional to ghost candidates, especially after they've prepared.

The interview process dragged on for over three months before I even got to the second round. After that, it was just silence. No one even bothered to send a quick email saying they'd found someone else, even though I followed up by email and phone. It's really not that hard to be professional and courteous. People put in time and effort to apply, prep, and interview. The least you can do is communicate clearly. Ghosting candidates makes the company look bad.

I had an initial call with the recruiter, and they mentioned I'd be speaking with the hiring manager, framing that call as a mere formality. Optimistic, I proceeded to speak with the hiring manager. Then, I advanced to the subsequent stage, where I interviewed with two potential team members. Unfortunately, one of them experienced technical difficulties with 'zoom' during our scheduled time, necessitating a reschedule. After completing these three conversations, I was left in silence regarding my status or any potential offer. My feedback to recruiters is that ghosting candidates after multiple rounds is unacceptable. Transparency and communication about the process, even for rejections, are crucial to avoid giving false hope.
