So I got contacted by the recruiter, then had a phone call and a first interview with the manager. After that, they gave me a full stack project to complete within 4 days. I really put a lot of effort into it, adding unit tests and some edge case logic for the API. I sent it in, but then they just ghosted me. No feedback, no rejection, nothing. It's pretty rude and unprofessional to not even say if I passed or failed, especially after I got to that stage. And the deadline was Monday to Friday, no weekend break.

The application process might be automated, which caused this problem. I got an email to set up a meeting with 5 days as my options. After I confirmed everything, the interview was canceled 5 minutes before it was supposed to start because they've 'decided to move forward with another candidate at this time.' I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that somehow, 5 minutes before the interview, someone else accepted their job offer, but even that sounds highly unlikely. I just hope recruiters can be more mindful of interviewees' time since this has happened to me twice already (with another company).

Behavioral Other

It was three rounds. First, a recruiter call. She was lovely. Second, hiring manager plus HR. This was a bit odd, the hiring manager had to leave 15 minutes into the call. I could have benefited from speaking with him further. Third, COO/Head of HR plus a dept head. This was a bit odd. The COO was a bit gruff and a few times eluded to a toxic workplace. He described a dysfunctional startup although the company has been around for years.

Behavioral Technical Coding

The entire interview process spanned two months. It started with an online application. Then, there was a casual HR screening interview. Following that, I had a technical interview with the Engineering Manager, which felt more like a knowledge exchange. Next, I tackled a take-home assignment that took me 7 days to complete and was somewhat demanding. Finally, I participated in a technical interview with members of the iOS team, who were really helpful and polite.
