Functional Analyst
Had an interview with the external recruiter over the phone, then an in-person interview with the hiring team. Since there were two positions open on two different teams, I interviewed with four people in total. It was pretty generic and not stressful even with so many interviewers. The expected wait time for feedback was about two weeks, but that didn't happen, so I had to reach out to get an update.
- What makes you seek a new job opportunity?
- What attracts you to our company and this role?
Junior T24 Developer
The hiring journey kicked off with a chat with HR. After that, there was a 90-minute technical interview with three interviewers, one of whom was from HR. It was a bit all over the place and not super organized, felt like the interviewers weren't totally on the same page. They asked about OOP, SOLID, a simple coding challenge, SQL, and a lot of questions about what different abbreviations stand for, which I thought was a bit of a waste of time compared to understanding how things are actually used. During the salary talk, one interviewer made a joke that didn't land well and seemed a bit unprofessional. I did get an offer, but I passed because I found something else. The benefits were okay, but the pay was lower than other junior Java engineer roles I was offered in Sofia.
- Can you explain all the principles of Object-Oriented Programming?
- Can you explain the SOLID principles?
- Can you do a basic coding task?
Student Worker
The student worker interview at KBC usually kicks off with submitting an application online, then there's a quick phone chat. If that goes well, you'll have an interview, often done virtually, to talk about why you want the job, when you can work, and if you have the right skills. They're usually pretty friendly and professional and might ask about how you'd handle certain situations or your past experiences. Depending on the specific student worker job, there might be another interview or a practical task. They tend to keep you updated, and the whole thing wraps up in a few weeks. It's basically to see if you'd fit in at KBC and can do the job as a student.
- Are you in possession of a bachelor's degree?
Data Scientist
I applied online and got an interview scheduled. The first round was with the team lead, not HR. He asked many theoretical machine learning questions and was impatient and arrogant, interrupting me during my intro and answers. The second round was a task where I had to explain my approach and results. He claimed one of my ML answers was wrong, though my professor and ChatGPT confirmed it was correct. He then sent a long email justifying his incorrect answer and rejecting my application. The entire process was unprofessional and unpleasant, the most arrogant interview I've experienced.
- Can you explain the AUC-ROC performance metric, its meaning, and how it functions?
