First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at iRobot.
Product Manager
The interviews were pretty laid back. First, I had a call with a recruiter where we chatted about the job and my background. Then, I went in person to meet some of the team and we talked about the products and what they needed for the role.

Test Engineer
It was mostly just asking about my resume with a few technical questions (Entry Level/new grad) First a phone screen with recruiter, one on one interview, and then an entire work day where I interviewed with 10 different people over zoom, some of whom I would be reporting to and others less related. Recruiter was all over me during this interview process, calling and texting all the time, multiple times I pulled over to pick up my phone, had to stop what I was doing, etc, just for him to talk my ear off like a salesperson and try to flatter me to get me interested? It was already one of my top choices. I thought they were serious about me. After 8 hours of interviews that ate my week up, they told me I would hear from them two days later, nothing. I called, was told early next week, then nothing. Called again, was told they would let me know by the end of the week; at that point I didn't believe them. Why tell me you will decide so soon if you can't? Like it's okay, I would have understood if they were realistic and said they were interviewing others and it would be a few weeks. I really thought I had an offer coming because they were acting so urgent. Then they ghosted me for 4 more weeks before sending a generalized 'sorry we went with another candidate' email. No feedback on why they didn't go with me. My interviews felt like they went really well. I don't think you should interview so many people for entire days like that.
- Can you tell me about your resume?
- How would you handle general job assignments?
Reliability Engineer
So I had about three interviews over about a month. I got a verbal offer from HR, and they said the written contract would take some time. I asked about job security and they said yes. Then a few weeks later, they said it was a 50/50 chance due to budget stuff for 2022. They said they were 'going to bat' for me, but then retracted the offer. HR blamed supply chain issues. The interviews themselves were fine and quick, but everything after was confusing. It felt like iRobot recruited me without getting the position approved, then kept me hanging until they found out it wasn't happening. The people seemed cool, but they need to sort out their organization and how they communicate with candidates.

Software Engineer
Went through the whole process with these guys, all positive feedback and good vibes through the final round. Then didn’t hear back for a few days and when I reached out, they let me know I was no longer being considered. Recruiter mentioned they will consider me for other positions, then when I asked for more details about those positions, they said “actually no there aren’t any”. Thanks lol. Make sure you have at least one other company you’re talking to in order to avoid disappointment.
- Did you encounter a LeetCode medium style question?
- Tell me about your experiences working on a team.
- Can you read data sheets?
