HR Business Partner and HR Generalist
I had a phone screen with a Talent Acquisition Partner, and it went well. We talked, I asked questions, and I got a clear idea of the HR Business Partner and HR Generalist jobs. The recruiter said I'd hear back in 3-5 days. A week later, I got rejected for the HR Business Partner role but heard nothing about the HR Generalist one, which they said was likely. I emailed them a week after that for an update, but no response. While I know things change, the lack of follow-up was disappointing, especially since they set expectations. Not hearing back after I followed up professionally made the process feel unfinished. A quick update would have been appreciated. The start was good, but better communication throughout would make a big difference.
- Can you tell me about your experience and your reasons for seeking a new position?
Cashier
It was mostly personal questions, so be ready to answer truthfully. Everyone was pretty nice and it wasn't difficult at all. They seem to be hiring quite a bit. They go over your resume and ask questions about it. Then we talked about pay and availability. It was all pretty standard, nothing out of the ordinary.
- What makes you want to work at this place?
- Can you tell me about your resume?
- What's your availability like?
Network Engineer
I applied online and heard back from HR about 1.5 weeks later to schedule an initial screen. I suggested a few times, but after no response, I followed up. HR then suggested two specific times, and after another no-show, I followed up again. Finally, they called and we had the HR screen where they asked about my experience with the brand and shared some personal stories. Then, it took almost a week of following up to get an interview with two IT managers. This interview wasn't super technical, but they asked about my background, how I stay updated on industry changes, and about general network troubleshooting and teamwork. They mentioned a difference in SD-WAN vendors between corporate and restaurants, but didn't explain why. I didn't get the job, and after HR initially said they'd get back to me in 2 days, I had to follow up again the next week to get a rejection. My interactions with HR felt unprofessional due to unresponsiveness and missed calls.
- Can you share an example of a difficult problem you resolved in a past role?
Associate
The In-N-Out interview process usually has two meetings. First up is a quick chat with a manager about your personality, when you can work, and your customer service vibe. They'll ask easy stuff like, 'Why do you wanna work here?' or 'What if a customer is being a jerk?' If that goes well, you get a second, more in-depth interview with a manager who's a bit higher up. This part really checks out your teamwork, how hard you work, and if you can handle a busy place. They might also double-check your schedule and see if you fit with what In-N-Out cares about: being clean, friendly, and giving awesome customer service.
- What actions would you take if you observed a colleague in difficulty?
