First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at In-N-Out Burger.
Sales Associate
It was my first interview ever, so I was super nervous. We were split into groups of four and my group waited about half an hour before we were interviewed. The interviewer made me feel really comfortable right away. After that interview, she let us go but asked me to stay to talk with the store manager. They told me when I'd hear back, but sadly I got an email the same day saying I didn't get the job. It was a good interview experience overall, more like a conversation to get to know you than strict questions.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- Describe a time you had to work with a team or in a group.
- What's your availability like?
Sales Associate
I applied one day at noon and immediately got a call from the store at 2 that same day. I came in a few days later, went right up to the counter and introduced myself to the first associate I saw (confidence is key). She went and got the store manager and I introduced myself to him as well. He then sent me and one of the shift managers outside to interview. After a few questions the shift manager I was interviewing with left to get the store manager, so I could skip the whole hassel with a second interview. After talking to the store manager for a while, he hired me on the spot. This was by far my easiest and fastest interview. Just remember be yourself and smile. SMILE! At In-N-Out having great answers to questions is awesome, but the smile is by FAR your most important asset.
- Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?
- Can you describe a time when you worked as part of a team?
- Tell me about a time you had a disagreement and how you handled it.
Sales Associate
I was called to show up in the morning at a specific time for a group interview. When I got there, they told me they weren't ready yet and I had to wait for 20 min. I was put in a group of 4 including myself. The whole interview itself lasted for 10-15 min. When it was over, they told me they'd let me know in a couple days, but I never got a call back.
- Can you describe a time you were in a stressful environment and explain how you handled it?
- What makes you want to work at this company?
