Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at In-N-Out Burger.
Associate
The interview process was pretty straightforward. They focused on questions about teamwork, managing in busy settings, and customer interaction/friendliness. They also apparently care about smiling, so being really cheerful and smiling a lot is probably a good idea during the interview.
- Can you share your experience working on or being part of a team?

The In-N-Out interview process usually has two meetings. First up is a quick chat with a manager about your personality, when you can work, and your customer service vibe. They'll ask easy stuff like, 'Why do you wanna work here?' or 'What if a customer is being a jerk?' If that goes well, you get a second, more in-depth interview with a manager who's a bit higher up. This part really checks out your teamwork, how hard you work, and if you can handle a busy place. They might also double-check your schedule and see if you fit with what In-N-Out cares about: being clean, friendly, and giving awesome customer service.
- What actions would you take if you observed a colleague in difficulty?

I went through two interviews, each about 10-15 minutes long. The first one was really good, the interviewer was super friendly and seemed happy to chat. She invited me back for a second interview a few days later. The second interviewer seemed tired and disinterested, but I still tried my best and smiled a lot. She mentioned they'd discuss it and let me know. It's been a week and I haven't heard back, so I'm not sure about the outcome.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What kind of hobbies do you have?
- What interests you about our company?
