Merchandising Analyst
I had an initial chat with the recruiter where they asked basic questions about myself, like introductions and what data tools I've used in my previous jobs. Since I'm an international student and need sponsorship, they didn't probe too deeply into my qualifications. Ultimately, I was rejected because they don't offer sponsorship for this particular role.

I interviewed extensively with Grainger for multiple roles, going through over 15 interviews with various team members across different stages. While many interviewers were professional and the discussions were positive, the process felt unorganized and inefficient. It seemed like some interviewers hadn't reviewed my resume, so we spent a lot of time covering information I'd already provided. Some questions also didn't seem related to the job, making it confusing. After putting in a lot of time and getting good feedback in some interviews, the follow-up was disappointing. I had long waits for updates and had to chase recruiters myself. Ultimately, I was rejected without any explanation, which was frustrating given the time I invested. In a couple of interviews, the tone felt off, making me question if the evaluation was fair. Overall, it felt disorganized and like they didn't respect candidates' time, which was unexpected for a company like Grainger.

Software Engineer
It started with a recruiter call, then I met the Hiring Manager. After that, there was a System Design interview and a Full Stack Interview. It was pretty easy going until the full stack part where they hit me with CSS questions. I don't know much CSS because we have a separate team for that. Turns out, my knowledge was just enough to not get the job. They also said my full stack app had fundamental Spring Boot issues, which was weird because I've been using the same methods for the last 4 years. I usually get the feedback, but this time I was really disappointed.

Warehouse Associate
I applied online and two weeks later got an email to schedule a 30-minute phone interview with HR. I chose a time for the following Tuesday. After the phone interview, I was invited for an in-person interview the next Tuesday, which involved a facility tour. They also discussed benefits, which are apparently available from day one. It seems they only conduct interviews on Tuesdays. The interviewer asked typical behavioral questions, nothing too challenging. At the end, I was told the interviewer would follow up with HR, but I never heard back, not even a rejection. So I guess I didn't get the job and was ghosted. It's a bit odd to discuss benefits before knowing if you have the job, shouldn't that be after an offer?
- Can you tell me about a situation where you exceeded expectations?
