Customer Service Representative
Got an email from a recruiter asking me to come in for an interview. They told me to learn about the company, like what products they sell and how they do business, and to bring a copy of my resume. The lady who interviewed me was really nice, and we mostly just talked. I managed to answer multiple questions with a single answer, and we basically talked about highschool and hobbies, telling jokes here and there to lighten the mood. I was just myself and felt comfortable with her. It turned out she's my manager on the floor, so you get interviewed by who will be directly over you, which was nice. Just have confidence and be yourself. Sell yourself and you'll do great.

Customer Service Associate
I got a call from a recruiter at headquarters in Illinois to schedule a 10-15 minute phone interview. After that, they said I'd hear back in about a week about whether I'd be moving forward or not. A week later, I got an email saying the process was taking longer but I was still being considered, which was really nice. A few days after that, they called to set up an in-person interview. The dress code was business professional, and they gave me some tips for the local interview. I got there 15 minutes early, took a quick tour, and then spent an hour discussing my resume, answering behavioral questions, and asking my own questions. Two people were there, taking turns asking me questions and answering mine. Afterward, one of them walked me out. Grainger made me feel really valued, like I was joining their team rather than just trying to get a job. I hope I get the chance to work there, but even if not, I learned a lot from the experience. I felt compelled to share this because it was such a positive experience.
- Can you share an instance where you established and accomplished a goal, and explain the steps you took to reach it?
Customer Service Representative
Had 2 interviews, first a phone screening and then a teams meeting. The person on the phone made me feel really good about getting to the next round, saying it would be on teams but no cameras needed. That was not the case, everyone had their cameras on, and there were 4 people in the room with me. I didn't get the job, they sent a rejection email late on a Friday night.
- Can you share an example of a challenging customer interaction you've managed using the STAR method?
- Please describe a time you exceeded expectations to help a customer.
- How do you cope with high-pressure situations when working with customers?
