Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Grainger.
Sales Position
It started with a screening with basic questions on your skills. Then it moved to a second round with a panel interview which was all STAR Based questions. This company promotes within but also does external interviews. It is disappointing as you can be over prepared but they already have an internal candidate.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to launch a new product into the market?
Inside Sales Representative
It was a long process with 4 rounds. I got to the final interview but they chose someone else. The first interview was with HR and was pretty easy. The second was with my direct manager and was tougher. The third was with other managers for their opinions. The last one was with the VP of sales.
- How do you handle rejection?
Outside Sales Representative
I was told this would take a while since there are different processes to complete, including a background check. This worked out fine for me because I have strong skills in many areas and felt comfortable talking about my experience. I was looking for a place that offers support, guidance, training, and has good values, policies, and integrity. As I use my skills, I hope to grow within the company, get rewarded, be successful, and learn new things.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- How will you contribute to this organization and achieve success in this position?
- What would you do if a customer urgently needed a product they were asking about?
