Systems Administrator
The interview process is quite challenging but the company is very responsive throughout. There are several stages to go through, beginning with an initial screening interview with Human Resources. If successful, candidates progress through multiple rounds, each focusing on different skills and experiences relevant to the role. The final interview is typically conducted with a branch manager, who assesses overall fit and alignment with the company’s goals and culture.

The interview process started with a Hirevue technical interview. A few weeks later, I had a virtual interview with 4 team members, which was also mostly technical. I was told I'd hear back the following week. Communication after the interview was poor; my thank you email and follow-up emails received no response. Eventually, I received an automated rejection email, even though they had said they disliked ghosting candidates. I hope they improve their communication, especially after a final interview.
- Can you describe a data analysis project you worked on, from its beginning to its conclusion?
Project Specialist
I sent in my application through the portal and got the usual auto-reply. About a month later, I got emails from HireVue, this site where you record yourself, saying I was picked for a one-way video interview that I had a few days to do. Someone from GT Talent Acquisition also emailed a reminder, but with a weirdly wrong due date way in the past. After I did the video interview, I got another auto-response saying they'd reach out if I moved on. But that didn't happen; instead, another month went by, and I figured I didn't get the job. Then, an email came, not from Talent Acquisition, but from someone in the actual department. They said I was moving forward and suggested a date two weeks out for a panel interview with real people. This department's hiring process was so slow that I managed to finish a whole interview process with another company and even got an offer. My advice to them is that lots of talented people are looking for jobs and don't have time for super long processes. I was really interested in this role, and I know university hiring can be slow, but if it takes a whole month to watch videos, why not just do a live first interview to save everyone time? Nobody likes one-way interviews, and it's also weird that Georgia Tech doesn't seem to use HireVue for everyone, so why is this department using it?

This was one of the worst interview experiences ever. I first had an interview with the hiring manager. He didn't say if there would be another interview, so I thought I wouldn't hear back. Then I got an email to set up a second interview, which was supposed to be an hour with a panel. They were late to start. Some questions were very technical, but most were situational, and I felt I did well. One person from HR was on the panel. They asked if I had questions, but we hadn't discussed pay, and I couldn't ask in front of everyone. The interview went over an hour, maybe 70 minutes, so I was late getting back to work. They didn't tell me or try to finish on time. They said they'd reply within a week. I sent a thank-you email but got no response. I followed up again, and they said they'd reply 'shortly.' Three weeks later, I emailed again since there was still no reply, and I saw on the portal I wasn't selected. All that prep, them being late, the long interview, and no follow-up to tell me I didn't get the job. It was unprofessional.
