First, I had to apply to get into the lab and school. Then, I met with potential lab mates and professors. After that, I had to write responses and a statement of purpose based on my background and research. Finally, I visited campus to see if it was a fit.

Prospective students were interviewed back to back by multiple faculty members. It was a very streamlined process but with very limited time for a decision. Although the recruitment period was well-planned by the staff, the short timeframe made it stressful to connect with as many faculty as possible.

The process wasn't really an interview for school admission, but more of an evaluation of my academic records, test results, and a couple of essays. I did have some interviews with potential professors I could work with, which were pretty relaxed. They mainly asked about my past projects, why I wanted to pursue graduate studies, and my research interests. I don't recall any technical questions. My advice for finding an advisor is to book your interviews early.
