Technical Coding Behavioral

It was two rounds of interviews. The first was a Technical Interview where they asked about my resume, SQL, and some basic automation questions. The second was a Managerial Interview that included scenario-based questions, discussions about office workflow, how I handle problems, and the testing processes.

Behavioral Technical

Got called for a face-to-face tech interview, but ended up doing a virtual round on a laptop since the HR and Interviewer were busy working from home. The interviewer was clearly stuck in the past, asking no technical questions at all, just a lot of process jargon. And to top it off, even though my profile was in automation, they were actually looking for manual QA for 2025. If you enjoy old-school workflows, misleading hiring practices, and outdated ways of thinking, this place is perfect.

Technical Coding

The technical interview was a bad experience. They asked pretty straightforward questions, but the interviewer struggled to explain them clearly. Some questions were also quite nonsensical. For instance, they presented code with multiple classes and interfaces and asked me to identify something specific, expecting the answer 'Dependency Injection'. There was also a live coding task where the interviewers were completely hands-off, simply instructing me to 'Complete the task and show us the final product'.

Coding Technical

So, there was this 1.5hr test on codility.com with 4 tasks, then a technical interview with a bunch of devs. Honestly, the whole process was pretty meh and left a bad taste. It's kinda funny how they always repost job ads that take forever to fill. I bet it's because they're trying to pay a really low-average NZ market rate salary, hoping to snag some desperate, gullible unicorn who'll get taken advantage of. It's hilariously stupid for a company their size. Plus, you get a pretty crap job title. My advice? Avoid FNZ and do your homework on companies and salaries before applying, otherwise you'll just waste your time and effort like I did. No wonder their Glassdoor reviews are so bad.

Confirmed questions4 questions
  • Given an array A of N integers, can you return the smallest non-negative product of two elements from A, ensuring they are from different positions? This is a bug-fixing task where you need to alter at most 2 lines of code.
  • Construct an SQL query to determine the number of distinct companies each candidate applied to. You'll use two tables: 'candidates' for candidate details and 'reports' which connects candidates to companies via test sessions. The output should show the candidate's id, name, and their count of unique company applications, sorted by candidate id.
  • Identify the positive integer less than a given number S that has the largest sum of digits. Return this number as a string, making sure it only contains digits and no leading zeros. If several numbers share the maximum digit sum, any one is acceptable. The solution needs to be efficient since S can have up to 100,000 digits.
