It started with a recruiter call, which was pretty standard. Then, I had a call with the Hiring Manager where we discussed the team, my responsibilities, and some general questions about my experience. The next part was a design session and a coding exercise. The design session was supposed to be an hour, but we spent about 30 minutes just trying to get a dashboarding website to work, and then we had to rush through the Azure infrastructure design. The coding assessment itself was okay, though one of the interviewers kept interrupting and distracting me. Finally, there was a panel interview where we discussed past projects, focusing on challenges I'd faced and how I handled them.

The interview process kicked off with a 30-minute recruiter call over the phone. Then, surprisingly, the Hiring Manager interview was also over the phone instead of in person. After that, I had a lengthy session, about 2 hours and 45 minutes, meeting with 6 different people from the team. These interviews were scheduled back-to-back, leaving me little time to gather my thoughts. One of the interviewers was quite unpleasant, trying to trip me up with a question about programmatic marketing, which wasn't even part of the job description and is handled by their growth team. Given this experience, I emailed HR immediately after to decline the offer.

The interview process at ezCater was really smooth and enjoyable, showing their focus on a good employee and candidate environment. They designed it well so you can show off your skills and learn about the company. Communication was clear from the start, keeping me updated on each step. It felt transparent throughout, from the first phone screen to the final interviews, I knew what to expect and what they were looking for. The best part was the culture and the people. Everyone I met made me feel comfortable and welcome, focusing on getting to know me beyond just my qualifications. It felt more like a chat than an interview. They even made it fun, focusing on team and culture fit alongside skills. The interactions were lighthearted and made me excited about ezCater. Even after not getting the job, the recruiter called to give feedback. This was thoughtful and showed their commitment to helping candidates grow. They pointed out strengths and areas for improvement, which was valuable for my development. This kind of support, even when not offering a job, shows they care about people's growth. It reinforces my positive view of ezCater as a forward-thinking, people-focused company.

It was a pretty long and thorough process, which I liked because you really get a good sense of the role and the team before you finish. It took about 3 weeks. The talent acquisition team kept me in the loop with what was next and even sent some interview tips at the start. They gave quick feedback after each step before moving on. The steps were: Phone screening w/ TA, Phone screening w/ hiring manager, Zoom interview w/ another manager, Zoom interview w/ VP, Zoom interview w/ 2 team members, Zoom interview w/ hiring manager, a take-home project, and then a project presentation and panel interview.
