The hiring journey was pretty slick and organized, moving along fast. Setting up times was easy, and they kept me in the loop the whole time. It kicked off with a chat with HR, then I talked to the hiring manager. After that, it was a technical interview with the Data Analyst folks, which included a live SQL test. They had four SQL questions and we did it on a shared screen, it was pretty simple and all about solving real problems. Then, I met with the Director of the department and finally did a panel interview with people from Engineering, Design, Operations, and Finance. Most of the questions in every part were about real-life scenarios, not just theory. Everyone I met was cool, professional, and treated me right. Even though I didn't get the job, it was a good experience overall, and I liked how put-together the whole process was.

I applied and didn’t hear anything for months, and was surprised when I finally got a request for a recruiter screening. After that things moved fast - I met with the hiring manager and had a great conversation. I was told immediately afterwards that they wanted to move me to the next step - a full day “virtual onsite”. We quickly set that up, and I went through a day long marathon of interviews. I really enjoyed everyone I met with, and it seemed like things went really well. Afterward the last interview, I met with the recruiter and he looked at the initial feedback that had been delivered through workday, and said it all looked very positive. He assured me that he’d be in touch within a few days with an update. I asked (because I’ve seen so many stories of people ghosted here in Glassdoor) if he’d get back to me either way - even if they didn’t want to move forward. He said yes, absolutely, and actually joked about how they don’t ghost people. Guess what? They ghosted me! After not hearing back for well over a week, I checked in, and he said they were finalizing the decision and he’d be in touch by the end of that week. After that, I never heard another word, despite following up. In workday, my application still said “in progress”, so I was confused, though I wasn’t holding out hope at that point. Eventually, a couple of months later, I guess someone decided to mark my application “rejected”. So suddenly I got an automated email from Etsy saying they weren’t moving forward, and offering me a give certificate ($10 I think) to complete a survey about my experience.

It was a really long process with a lot of stages, even more so since I had a referral. Started with a phone screen, then a couple of hour-long interviews. After that, it was a full day of interviews. One of the interviewers for the full day didn't show up, and they wanted to reschedule me for the next day, but after I pointed out I'd have to take another day off work, they managed to fit me in the same day. They made it seem like I already had the job, even telling me what the offer would be and that they'd call next week to confirm. But then I just got an automated email saying the position was filled. Overall, it felt unprofessional, took way too much time, and was pretty disorganized.

I interviewed in early December 2024. A recruiter reached out via inmail, and I sent my resume. A week later, she scheduled a technical phone screen where I had to add features to an existing codebase. After that, I was invited for an onsite interview. The first onsite round involved adding more features to the app. The second round required me to choose between two features to add to the app. The third round was a system design interview, from which I could pick one of two options. The fourth round was a chat with the team's manager. They said I'd hear back the following week, but I never did. I noticed the job was no longer listed on their website, so they ghosted me after I spent hours on the onsite interview.
