Product Manager
I had a good first chat with a recruiter for a Senior PM position. She mentioned my experience seemed like a good match and that she wanted me to talk to the hiring manager within a week or two. Towards the end, I let her know I was pregnant and due in a few months. She said it was fine and I should just continue with the interviews, and we could sort out any details later. After that, I heard nothing for weeks. I thought maybe it was a holiday weekend, but when I followed up about a month later, they said they had gone with other people. I was really disappointed by the lack of follow-up and openness, especially after such a positive initial conversation and their clear interest in moving me forward. Because of the timing, I suspect my pregnancy might have played a role in their decision to end the process. It honestly felt like discrimination.

The interview experience was amazing. They were really considerate because my flight got canceled and I had to take a super early morning flight. The recruiter let everyone know about my travel situation, and they were all really nice about it. They even pushed my interview schedule back so I could relax a bit in the morning. Every interviewer asked if I needed anything like breaks, water, or snacks. My lunch interview was with two people, and they managed it perfectly so I could eat and talk at the same time. The recruiter was really upfront about the whole hiring process and gave me a tour of the office before I left. Etsy truly focuses on providing a great interview experience.
- The most challenging aspect was preparing the right presentation; the rest felt straightforward.
- Sufficient research and brainstorming for the presentation enabled me to address most product-related inquiries during the interview.

I talked to a recruiter on the phone, then the hiring manager on the phone. They seemed really nice and like a good fit. Then they flew me to NY for the on-site where I met with 6 people all day. Everyone was super engaged and welcoming, and I had a great time. But the next day they told me the role I wanted was taken by someone internal and that they loved me and were looking for another role. It took them a whole month to get back to me, even though I checked in weekly, because they were so disorganized. In the end, they said they couldn't find anything but would let me know if something opened up. They never did.
