It was a standard process for a service-based company. First, there was a written test where we received a Coderpad link with 3 questions. You'd get a base scenario and then had to implement a function on top of it, not like typical Leetcode style questions. Then, a technical round with normal interview questions focusing on Java + Spring, Spring boot. And finally, one more programming question, a general scenario-based one to demonstrate coding skills (again, not Leetcode style).

I was contacted by someone at Egen. We had an initial 30-minute call where they asked basic PM questions. Then I got a case study to do within 24 hours. After I sent it back, I heard nothing for over 10 days. I reached out on LinkedIn and got a rejection email almost immediately. The whole experience was pretty bad - no feedback, no communication about timelines, and an unnecessary take-home that didn't even result in feedback.

A recruiter from Egen contacted me about a Data Engineer role. They wanted me to complete an initial screening test quickly, mentioning an interview could be scheduled for the following week. I took the test in July. Although I qualified, the recruiter went silent for about a month and a half. I had to reach out daily in September to get an interview slot. The interview itself went well, and they indicated an offer would follow, but it's been two months with no updates. My advice to OPT/STEM OPT candidates is to avoid this company as they seem to disrespect candidates' time and keep applicants on hold unnecessarily. Many other companies are more professional and communicative.

Coding Technical System Design
There were 4 rounds total. Round 1 involved 3 LeetCode questions (1 easy, 2 medium) within 1 hour or 1 hour 20 mins. Round 2 was a video interview focusing on system design in Java, with some testing of logic that was fairly easy. Round 3 was another video interview with someone named Raj, which was enjoyable. This round looked closely at system design and how the tech stack is used, it was the best interview round. Round 4 was another system design interview. The interviewer was late. The first 10-15 minutes were spent discussing my experience, then I was given some questions, and I shared my screen to write code in an IDE.
