Principal Software Engineer
The recruitment process for this Principal Software Engineer role in Barcelona was a mess and a waste of my time. They offered an average Barcelona salary. I had my first call with a recruiter at the end of January 2026. They asked me to propose times for the next interview, but ignored my availability for the whole next week. I eventually got an invite for a slot two weeks later, which luckily I could make. The interview with two senior technology managers went well, but then there was radio silence for two weeks. I followed up, and the recruiter said he'd have a decision on the first round by the end of that day and would call me. Two more weeks passed with no news. Oh, and before the first interview, the recruiter called my mobile several times unexpectedly just to confirm the interview, which wasn't necessary.
- Can you give a brief overview of your experience?
- What are some standard behavioral questions you usually ask?
Airline Pilot
You'll start with online aptitude tests covering Maths, Physics, Logic, Reasoning, Thinking, and Games, all under a time limit. Then, there's a personality questionnaire with 100 questions, each having two options, also timed – the advice is not to overthink it. After that, you'll have an online interview, possibly with one or two interviewers, where they'll ask about your past experiences, how you've handled situations, your industry knowledge, current events, and some technical questions. Finally, you'll participate in online group tasks with about 4 or 5 other people, where you'll need to work together to solve a problem or develop a solution within a set time limit.
- Tell me about a time you acted impulsively and the result. Is there anything you would alter about that experience?
Analyst
The interview process was really well structured and straightforward. I interviewed on Friday and got the job offer the following Tuesday. The recruiter also set up quick follow-up calls with himself and the hiring manager. I had to present a data project I'd worked on and answer technical SQL and Tableau questions related to it. After that, there were soft skill questions. The interviewers were friendly and not too serious, which made me feel comfortable.
- Tell me about a project where you brought in something new. What was it, and what was the outcome?
- Describe a data project you've completed.
- Can you demonstrate your SQL skills?
QE Architect
The HR person who set up the interview was great, really clear and made sure I knew what was going on. But the technical part and getting feedback after was kinda rough. It took over a week to get any feedback, and I only heard back after I chased them, and they basically said they were moving on with other people. Would have been nice to get a quick rejection email. Considering the interview was so short, the feedback felt pretty unprofessional and didn't seem like they really evaluated much. The interview itself was only 30 minutes and started late. The interviewer spent a lot of time talking about the company's current test automation strategy and how it fit with what people already knew, instead of discussing the bigger picture for the QE Architect role or how to build more scalable and robust automation for a big company. They could have used the time to see how my skills could help with current gaps in our QE setup. It felt like they were trying to confirm a specific way of doing things rather than having a real back-and-forth discussion.
- Can you discuss different automation frameworks and strategies?
