First there was a phone screening where they asked about my background, recruitment experience, HR principles knowledge, and interest in the job. Then, a first interview (which could be in-person or virtual) covered my past recruiting work (sourcing, screening, interviewing), my grasp of HR policies for hiring, how I tackle recruitment hurdles like finding rare talent or handling lots of jobs at once, and my strategy for keeping candidates engaged. There was also an assessment or skills test focusing on boolean search, job boards, social media recruiting, candidate screening/assessment techniques, and knowledge of HR laws.

  • Could you explain your strategies for finding candidates when a position is difficult to fill?
