Had a 30 min recruiter call, then a 45 minute hiring manager video call. After that, there were three 45 minute interviews with my in-role peers. Then I waited a long time, over a month, and almost gave up hope. They then asked me to do another peer review, and I got an offer a couple weeks after that.

I interviewed for an SRE role at Duo Security in Sydney. They're still building their Australian team, with just a few people there now. The SRE manager and the person I spoke with for the phone screen and first interview were super nice. The interview had 4 parts: a coding test on Codility (like LeetCode), a system design interview, and two behavioral chats with management. I didn't do well on the coding test, as that style of interview isn't really my thing. Honestly, I was a bit surprised they had a coding round for an SRE job, but I guess companies define these roles differently.

Recruiter was amazing in coordination and keeping me in the loop. They were transparent and provided whatever "excuse" the HM has given them. I had 5 rounds - 1 code review, 1 coding and 1 design, 1 behavioral with engineering leadership and another with Product Manager and Designer followed by 30 minutes of HM wrap up. All the rounds had behavioral question follow ups to my tech answers and everyone pretends to be culturally collaborative. Overall, I did well and HM said great things in the wrap up round. The next day was the day of results and they decided to pass saying that I take initiatives to improve quality which can disrupt their cultural ethos. How on earth can someone provide this lame feedback. Anyways, I moved on and decided not to interview anywhere which had "woke" red flags of fake culture fit

The whole thing took about two months from start to finish, but the hiring manager and recruiter kept me in the loop the whole time. This was the toughest interview process I've been through. It started with typical phone screens, then I got a case study. I had to present that case study to a panel. After that, there were more interviews. I think I ended up talking to about 15 different people from the team overall. It was hard, but I learned a lot and grew from the experience.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Can you discuss your contributions to the case study you worked on?
  • Describe the strategic thought process that guided your case study solution.
