Applied online and heard back from the recruiter for a phone screen within a day or two. After that, I spoke with the hiring manager for a standard phone interview. He then said I'd be speaking with one of his sales reps. The recruiter set that up a few days later. The sales rep really dug into my existing accounts, asking for specific names and titles of contacts, and details about what they purchased and why. While I get that companies want to know your network, asking for that kind of confidential customer info, especially when NDAs are standard in enterprise sales, felt inappropriate. I mentioned the NDA issue, and the next communication was from the recruiter stating that the hiring manager and sales rep didn't feel there was a strong enough match based on my experience. So, I didn't get the chance to join the company.

Behavioral Presentation

Applied online and got a quick call back from a recruiter named Mary Ann who made a great first impression. Then I had face-to-face meetings with the hiring manager and the VP, plus a call with the hiring manager's peer. These were good talks where I learned about Duo's culture and vision. Next, I did a demo and presented a 90-day plan. Salary negotiations followed, and Duo was very transparent about it. We agreed on a number, set my start date, and I was ready for training. The whole process really showed Duo's values: transparency, kinder than necessary, and fun.

They're looking for a transactional sales rep, basically someone who's okay with being used and discarded after a few years. It's not a bad gig if that's your goal, but don't expect anything regarding career growth, company culture, or future opportunities. The interviewers didn't have good things to say about the company itself. It seems like they're going through some growing pains. I'm not sharing the specifics of my accounts or deals, as my resume and past successes should speak for themselves.
