Admissions Representative
I was contacted by a recruiter because of my extensive experience in higher education and this specific role. Having worked in this capacity for years, I anticipated a simple process. However, DeVry's true nature became apparent. It seems they prefer inexperienced individuals they can mold, rather than those with industry experience, much like sales managers who don't want to hire experienced people. They are looking for enthusiastic salespeople to promote their offerings. This aligns with their questionable reputation among industry professionals and students. While promoting an institution is vital, pushing enrollment to an uncomfortable degree can alienate prospective students. This school struggles to understand that balance, treating every information request as a potential enrollment opportunity. When asked about handling common issues like FAFSA and funding options in higher education, my response was deemed insufficient. Apparently, I should have insisted on enrollment rather than acknowledging that the financial aspects didn't align. This is a common occurrence given my experience and the objections I've handled. The role-play scenario they presented mirrored a situation I've had with a real student, where the actual solution involved deferring enrollment by a month, which led to that student graduating with honors. However, for their role-play, delaying a start date was unacceptable. They seek individuals who pressure students into starting school even when unprepared, which is unfortunate. For anyone considering a career in higher education, DeVry provides a distorted view of the field. They operate like glorified car salespeople and expect similar behavior. If you're in the industry and considering a move, I strongly advise against it, especially to this institution. Good luck – you'll likely need it if you decide to work for DeVry.

The whole interview process was great, from the beginning to the end. They were really good at communicating and keeping things organized, so it was easy to figure out what was happening at each stage. They did a good job explaining the job itself, like what the day-to-day would look like and what the company cares about. From the very first chat, I felt like they had my back, were easy to talk to, and I felt good about the possibility of working there.

Product Manager
The interview process felt structured, professional, and welcoming. I went through a few rounds: first a recruiter screening, then a panel interview, and finally a one-on-one with the person who would be my manager. Every conversation was focused, with clear expectations set and thoughtful questions asked. What really stood out was how much they emphasized alignment with DeVry's mission and values, and they used real-world scenarios that let me show my problem-solving and product strategy skills. Everyone I talked to was respectful and transparent throughout.
- When resources are limited, how do you decide which product features to prioritize?

The interview process was quite impressive. Scheduling was a breeze, and I could easily reach out to the interviewers if I had questions, and they responded quickly and were really accommodating. The interviews mostly had behavioral questions, which were framed using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). This helped me present my experiences clearly. The interviewers were attentive and created a collaborative atmosphere. I really liked the professionalism and how organized everything was. It left a great impression!
- Can you share an instance where you received constructive criticism and what the outcome was?
