Behavioral Presentation

The interview process started out strong. Conversations with the CS leadership team were overly templatized and scripted, but there was clear mutual interest early on. I was genuinely excited about the role and the opportunity to re-enter the GTM / ABM marketing and sales space. As the process progressed, however, the experience became increasingly unclear. While an offer was communicated verbally, I was not provided with exact compensation details, and requests for information about benefits were declined with the explanation that no candidate-facing benefit materials (i.e., brochure or benefits packages) were available. As a result, evaluating the opportunity required a level of trust that I was not comfortable with at this stage of the process, and I ultimately had to explicitly request a written offer to understand what was being proposed. Additionally, during a conversation with the hiring director, I was told verbatim: “If you’re looking to grow or progress within this role in 2–3 years, you should look at other companies.” While I appreciated the candor, this further impacted my trust and confidence with the CS leadership and the long-term fit of the role. Taken together, the lack of clarity around the offer, which devolved into effectively a "just trust me, bro" talking point and the positioning of the role made it difficult to assess the opportunity with confidence, and I ultimately withdrew from consideration to avoid further time investment on both sides.

I had an initial HR screen, then spoke with the hiring manager, and finally the revenue operations leader. I suspect there were more rounds, but these were the ones I went through. I felt good about all three interviews, even the last one with the operations leader, though he was quite late and nobody bothered to tell me. That last interview was mostly a chat, I ended up asking most of the questions, and he barely asked me anything about my background or experience. It was a strange way to evaluate candidates, in my opinion, but I still think I managed to show my expertise. After that, I heard nothing, and then I saw they reposted the job. It makes me think they don't really get what this position entails or how to actually assess someone's qualifications, or even how to ask standard questions.

I applied online and then got an automated rejection, but about a month later, a recruiter got in touch. He told me a lot about the role, what the hiring manager wanted, the company's go-to-market history, and benefits and culture. Then I had a good 30-minute chat with the hiring manager, who was really down to earth, like everyone else I spoke with. Next, I talked to another marketer at my level about what's going well and the challenges. After that, I spoke with the sales leader I'd be working with about collaboration and how marketing can help sales. Finally, I met the hiring manager's boss, which was also a good chat. Everyone was so kind and genuine, making me feel like they were really interested in me as a person. I felt a real connection and was sure I'd get an offer. Sadly, the company had some finance leadership changes, and the role was put on hold just before an offer would have been made. I had five 30-minute Zoom interviews in total, sometimes going a bit longer. I got positive feedback like 'I'm rooting for you' and 'you'd be a great fit.' Even though the timing didn't work out, I hope they reopen the role.

Technical Coding Behavioral

The interview process at Demandbase India Pvt. Ltd. starts with an online aptitude test that checks logical reasoning, quantitative skills, and basic programming knowledge. If you pass this, you'll go to one or more technical interviews where they'll test your knowledge of data structures, algorithms, programming languages like Python, Java, or C++, and anything specific to the job. You might also have to solve coding problems or talk about your past projects. The last round is an HR interview to see if you're a good cultural fit, how well you communicate, and what your motivation is. They'll probably ask about your background, career plans, and what you know about the company.
