We start with a group interview and a personal interview. First, there's a group chat. One person from the group will need to do a presentation and then answer everyone's questions. After that, we move to a personal interview. We'll ask about your preferred store location, desired work times, and how many hours you're looking to work. We'll also inquire about your customer service experience, including the types of experience you have, and how you would handle a difficult customer.
- Do you have any customer service experience?

It all started with an email from HR setting up a Teams chat for an interview. The interview covered typical job questions and the company's current strategy. They mentioned a second interview, but I never heard back for over a month. Turns out I didn't make it. The silence was a bummer and made the company look bad, especially when I had a much better time with a competitor shortly after.
- Could you tell me about your relevant experience for this role?

Applied online in September and had an online chat interview with 5 questions, taking about 25 mins. A few days later, got an invite to a recruitment showcase in late October, where I could pick my preferred day. On the showcase day, arrived at the Sydney store. About 20 people were there, split into 4 groups at different tables. The whole vibe was super chill. We started with introductions and an icebreaker: saying one thing you'd buy from David Jones. Then, we watched videos about the brand's history. Next were 2 group activities where we brainstormed answers on paper and then shared them. The first question was about how to help a customer who looks lost. For the second, each group got a different brand value (inclusive, innovative, customer obsessed, empowering) and we discussed what it meant. After that, there were short 1-on-1 interviews asking why I wanted to work there, my availabilities, and preferred store/section. The whole thing took about 1.5-2 hours. The next day, an email asked for pre-employment checks (working rights and two referees who had to fill out a short form). By the end of the week, I got a call with a job offer.
- If money were no issue, what's one item you'd purchase from David Jones?
- How would you assist a customer who appears to be lost?
- Could you explain the meaning of this brand value: [inclusive, innovative, customer obsessed, empowering]?
