It was a positive and professional interview. They described their business model, strategic goals, and what they expect from the role. We had a nice talk about the industry and market expansion. I decided not to continue because it didn't feel like the right long-term choice.

I interviewed with Daugherty and was initially excited. After the second interview, I was hoping for feedback or to see if I could provide more info. A month went by with no communication. I asked for updates but got no reply, which was disheartening. It felt like being left in the dark after putting in time and effort. Good communication is important, and the lack of follow-up made a bad impression. I get that hiring is complex, but candidates should get at least a quick update.

Got a LinkedIn message about the role, then talked to a recruiter. Had a one-hour technical interview where I did some SQL and Python coding on CoderPad. After that, I had a one-hour interview with a manager from the department. They offered me a job that was a step down in terms of career progression, even though the money was similar to my current role. It was a strange situation because they reached out to me about my current role, but then offered me a more junior position. The company does seem to pay well for roles and has good benefits though.

So, all these interviews were virtual on Teams/Zoom because of COVID. It was pretty impressive how smoothly things went even with the circumstances. The first call was a recruiter screen, and it was really laid-back and informative about how Daugherty works and what roles they needed to fill. They didn't seem rushed at all, and the interviewer followed up on some questions I had, like he said he would. After they figured out a couple of roles that might be a good fit, I got moved to the next set of interviews. The first of those was a technical interview with two people. We talked about my resume and the kind of work Daugherty does, and they asked me some questions like you'd do on a whiteboard about Python and SQL. Then, the next round was a chat with a senior leader. This was a good chance for me to ask my questions about the company and its culture, and I also had to answer some questions about my predictions for technology over the next five years and where I see my own career going. Throughout this whole thing, my main contact kept me updated and was really quick to answer any questions I had. I was really impressed with how personal it all felt.
