They reached out to schedule an interview over a month after I applied. Had a great chat with the HR gal. I moved on to the hiring manager interview which I thought went well. The communication was pretty good throughout the process. They let me know a week after the hiring manager interview that they would make their decision by mid week (email was sent on Monday). The only negative was I received a generic application rejection email. I think once you are several interviews into the process you should at least receive a personal email.

It was a thorough interview process. First, there was a basic get-to-know-you interview. This was followed by a tour of the facility and a final interview focusing on work history. It's pretty basic, so just try not to be nervous!

I applied online and a recruiter got in touch a couple weeks later. The interview itself lasted a bit over 30 minutes and it was really thorough. They asked job-specific questions along with cultural fit questions. I was actually surprised by how much detail the recruiter got into during this first interview. Some of the questions felt like they should have been for a second-round or hiring manager interview, especially the ones about content strategy.

Behavioral Technical

The core team at Custom Ink is strong, and the interviewers I met with were sharp, professional, and asked insightful questions relevant to the role. It's clear the company has talented people on board. However, the main problem with the hiring process was a complete communication blackout for the two full weeks after the final panel interview. Even with the Labor Day holiday, the lack of a simple holding email to manage candidate expectations was disappointing for a company of this caliber. It created a feeling of disorganization and a lack of respect for the candidates' time. Custom Ink has the ability to attract top talent. To improve the candidate experience, I would suggest: Provide brief, regular updates to candidates in the final stages, especially if there are known internal delays. Hold third-party recruiting partners to a high standard of transparency. Our process was complicated by the agency submitting a salary figure 15% higher than my stated maximum, which should be a point of concern for management.
