Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Custom Ink.

Applied online and then got contacted to schedule a phone screen with HR, then a phone screen with the hiring manager. The questions were about my interest in the job, the company, and my experience. After the phone screens, I had a half-day in-person interview with four one-hour interviews with different team members, plus an office tour and a chat with HR about company culture and perks. These interviews were deep dives into my past experience and how it aligns with their ideal candidate profile. Then, I was given a one-hour take-home exercise focusing on Excel and marketing data analysis. The final step was a two-hour in-person interview. I got the offer the next day. The whole process took about three weeks, but the recruiter kept me updated on the timeline and next steps. It felt very thorough, and everyone seemed genuinely invested in finding a good fit for both me and the company. Overall, a great experience that confirmed my decision to accept.
- What is your motivation for seeking employment at CustomInk?
Marketing
The HR Manager was great - professional, available, respectful, and gave good feedback. They really emphasized the company culture and how they look for engaged employees who love working there. That’s awesome! However, the SVP of Marketing was the complete opposite. He barely acknowledged me, didn't make eye contact, and kept looking down at his notes or at people in the hallway during the interview. He seemed disengaged, uninterested, and frankly, rude. It was hard to understand how someone like that fits in at a company with so many workplace awards. I lost interest in the role because of this disconnect between HR and the SVP.
- Can you share an instance where you utilized a specific marketing/advertising mix and detail how you evaluated its effectiveness?
Marketing
CustomInk moves quickly, then not at all. After a phone interview, an in-person interview, an in-person panel interview, and a second in-person interview, I heard from HR, 'We love you! We can totally see you as part of our team! We'll be in touch in a week.' Then, crickets. I email a little after the week goes by. 'We love you! Just give us some time to figure something out!' Again, crickets. Lather, rinse, repeat. I quit my job because everything I'd heard from CustomInk lead me to believe that the job was mine. I only got a straight answer from them after I said I had another offer. Then, their story flipped from 'We love you!' to 'Well, we actually want another candidate for the FT job...how would you like to be a contractor?' Frustrating beyond belief.
