First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Curology.
Senior Software Engineer
Started with a recruiter call which went great. Then I had a tech assessment. For the live coding part, they suggest starting with pseudocode to help think through the approach and communicate it clearly, rather than just using syntax. After the pseudocode is clear, you can translate it to TypeScript or any language you're comfortable with. The interviewer was flexible and let me use my preferred workflow. We worked through the problem together, and they liked my approach. It felt like we were collaborating. I felt good about how it went, but then got an email saying that due to the team's fast-paced environment with migrations, production support, and complex reconciliation work, the role needs strong independent problem-solving and the ability to move from ambiguity to code quickly. The interviewer felt I had concerns in those areas.
- How would you reconcile this data?
Medical Provider
It was thorough. We had several interviews over a few days with different people. A typing test was required, and I also had to answer multiple open-ended questions in writing. I met with several staff members, including dermatologists, other medical providers, and recruiters.
- Regarding patients suicidal ideation, how to handle it?
Director
I first spoke with the recruiter, then interviewed with the hiring manager. The manager seemed nice, but they kept looking down, maybe on their phone. I felt they weren't really listening to me. I didn't get the job and I'm okay with that. But seriously, people should pay attention during interviews. It's hard enough already, and you need to make sure you actually hear what the candidate is saying. No matter your title, give them your full focus. It’s only right.
- Can you explain attribution models?
Senior Program Manager
I applied for a temp to hire Sr. Program Manager job and was contacted by talent for a phone interview. Then I had Zoom interviews with two junior employees and one supervisor. Pros: Talent team was communicative and clear about the process. They gave me a 6 month product trial. Cons: The junior employees asked tougher, more detailed questions than the supervisor. The role was heavily operational, which wasn't clear from the job posting or interviews, and I only learned this when I didn't get the job, a big miss in the posting. This is a late-stage startup, and it showed, like they're still figuring things out. I suspect the rounds weren't as tough because it was a temp role.
