First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Curology.
Marketing
The process started with an online application, followed by a phone interview scheduled two weeks later due to limited availability. The interview felt formulaic, focusing on specific marketing strategies for a particular audience rather than my experience or skills. Immediately after, I received a marketing campaign assignment targeting a specified audience, which I submitted the next day. A week later, I was scheduled for an HR "housekeeping call" about salary and work environment. I assumed this meant they were moving forward, but a few days before the call, I was informed I lacked the "specific set of skills" they were looking for, with vague feedback about seeking different skills. Surprisingly, the HR person who called for the "housekeeping call" was unaware of my rejection, indicating poor internal communication. Reviews suggest this role is frequently reposted and assignments might be used for data gathering. The overall experience was unprofessional and underwhelming.
- What new demographic should Curology target?
Marketing
This interview process felt like they were seeking free feedback on their marketing/brand and looking for new ideas for future marketing efforts, or maybe they weren't serious about hiring for a senior role. It spanned about 1.5 months and included 4 interview rounds, a final project, and a presentation. All interview rounds seemed to go well with positive feedback from the hiring manager. The presentation also went well, with only a few general, non-specific questions asked. The hiring manager mentioned that one of my answers was too "tactical" for what they were looking for. It seems strange to go through 4 rounds with positive feedback only to be passed over based on one answer, especially without a follow-up conversation. I'd suggest focusing your job search efforts elsewhere with companies that are genuinely serious about hiring and have a clear idea of what they need.
- Do you think a brand like X would ever run a campaign similar to the one you presented?
Marketing
Everyone was super friendly, attentive, and smart. They asked great questions during my case presentation, and the process was fast. I got my offer within a week and signed on.
- Can you provide examples of how you've used data to make decisions?
- Tell me about your understanding of customer empathy.
