First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Crane Aerospace & Electronics.
Manufacturing Engineer
So first there was a phone screen, then I talked to the Manufacturing Supervisor over the phone. After that, I had an in-person interview with three people: the HR manager, the Manufacturing Manager, and the Manufacturing Supervisor. Then they gave me an offer.
- What experiences do you have that are listed on your resume?
- Can you answer some behavioral questions?
Electronics Technician
Talked with 2 managers who covered the Standard SDI type interview. They reviewed my resume. Be careful or just don't be like me and actually tell them a weakness you have overcome. If you didn't work well with others and then later overcame that don't tell them. Bad choice on my part. Show small growths and let them ask questions. I talked with someone after and it was my fault not theirs so practice your answers to questions you make up. Recommend minimal details and don't be yourself yet. That's the worst advice anyone ever gives.
- Describe a past challenge you faced and how you initially dealt with it, contrasting it with your current approach.
- How did you initially manage a difficult situation?
- What changes have you implemented in handling that situation now?
Mechanical Engineer
It was a 3 step process: first a phone screening with HR, then a phone interview with the hiring manager, and finally an in-person interview with the hiring manager, a senior engineer, and another HR rep. Everything moved at a good pace, the questions were reasonable, and the conversations were fine. After the in-person interview, I never heard back from them, even after reaching out multiple times to my point of contact. It was terribly unprofessional.
- Can you walk me through your resume? And why are you interested in Crane? Tell me about a time you failed and how you handled it.
- Why did you choose to apply to Crane?
- Describe a failure you experienced and how you navigated through it.
Hydro Mechanical Engineer
I applied online and got a call for a 45 min hiring manager phone interview a week later. Another 15 min phone interview with the mechanical engineering department manager happened the following week. Then, I had a 90 min in-person interview, which included 60 min of interviewing and 30 min touring the lab and seeing the equipment. Two days after that, I was supposed to have a call with HR to finalize things, but she canceled. I followed up via email a week later and was told they weren't moving forward because I have a degree, unlike the rest of the team, and they were concerned I'd leave quickly.
- Tell me about your weakest point.
- What do you consider your strengths?
- How have you handled a problem that came up during a project?
