Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Crane Aerospace & Electronics.
Mechanical Design Engineer
This was an initial phone screening. We talked about my qualifications for the role, benefits, salary, and career path. They asked about my project management experience in designing machinery. Key skills they were interested in were Solidworks, GD&T, ANSYS, project management, and cross-team collaboration.
- Can you walk me through a recent project you were involved in, outlining your role and how it positively impacted the company?
Mechanical Engineer
It was a 3 step process: first a phone screening with HR, then a phone interview with the hiring manager, and finally an in-person interview with the hiring manager, a senior engineer, and another HR rep. Everything moved at a good pace, the questions were reasonable, and the conversations were fine. After the in-person interview, I never heard back from them, even after reaching out multiple times to my point of contact. It was terribly unprofessional.
- Can you walk me through your resume? And why are you interested in Crane? Tell me about a time you failed and how you handled it.
- Why did you choose to apply to Crane?
- Describe a failure you experienced and how you navigated through it.
Mechanical Engineer Intern
HR reached out about my resume for a summer internship, and we talked about my engineering interests and projects before scheduling a phone interview with the hiring manager. The manager call covered Crane's operations, the team, my projects, and goals, lasting about 45 minutes. Two weeks later, I had an in-person interview with HR and the manager. This hour-long meeting included interview questions about my project details and some basic HR questions, plus a tour. A week later, HR offered me the position.
- In your education, what achievement are you most proud of?
