The interview process was friendly and well-structured, taking place in a comfortable setting. They asked questions directly related to the job responsibilities. There was also time for a casual chat, which was nice. It wasn't overly long and I had the chance to ask my own questions.

Behavioral Presentation

So, after chatting with the recruiter (who's actually from a 3rd party), there were two interview rounds. The first was pretty casual, just to see if I'd fit in. Then, the second round was a more formal competency-based interview with two directors, and I had to give a 20-minute presentation. They told me how many people were applying at each step, but it turns out they weren't upfront about that. They also didn't give feedback when they said they would, I had to chase them for it. I got the feeling they liked people doing a bunch of prep, but didn't offer much back. I reckon they might have been after ideas, and maybe the job wasn't even real, or they had someone in mind already.

Scheduling the interview was a bit difficult, but after speaking with an HR representative, the date and time were confirmed. I interviewed with the tax director for an hour. The conversation was excellent, and we shared our experiences and knowledge. Although I was overqualified, I was looking for any opportunity due to the pandemic. The position had been open for about six months, which I found to be a long time, but I understood that cutbacks due to Covid-19 led them to rebuild the department. After three weeks, I followed up twice via email, and the HR representative promised to respond by the end of the day, but never did. Finally, after three weeks, I received a generic email stating they were moving forward with other candidates. Overall, everyone was nice, but it seemed they were unsure of what they were looking for.
