Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cobham.
Quality Engineer
They call you for the first interview and it is not that tough. The second interview would be the hiring manager and I am still waiting for this step. It took about 20 minutes. The next step probably takes longer than that.
- Do you have U.S. citizenship?
- Tell me what you know about our company.
- How did you find out about us?
Supplier Quality Engineer
So the first thing that happened was a recruiter reached out with a questionnaire about my experience. Then I had a 45-minute phone interview with the hiring manager where we talked about my experience related to the job. After that, I got an invite for an in-person panel interview. This interview was a bit weird because it included the hiring manager, two other QE's, an intern, and someone from supply chain. While there were some good situational questions, the two QE's mostly asked a lot of questions that felt like a trivia game, which was a bit discouraging because it took away from discussing my actual skills and experiences. The supply chain person even said it felt like an SAT test, mentioning the questions were more suited for entry-level candidates rather than someone with 12 years of manufacturing experience.
- Can you explain the differences in supplier document requirements between AS9100C and AS9100D?
- Under what circumstances might an ISO 9001 certified company fail an internal audit?
- What information is provided in Method 5011 of MIL-STD-883?
Quality Engineer
The interview process felt unnecessarily long. After two recruiter phone calls, I had two more phone interviews with the hiring manager for the team. Then, I was invited for an in-person interview which turned out to be a panel interview with six people who bombarded me with questions back-to-back. After these phone rounds and the panel interview at IA, which included a timed test, a facility tour, a hotel stay, and even a real estate agent showing me around the area to find a place to live, I thought things were progressing. However, it ended up not working out, and the recruiter was informed two weeks later. It was a significant waste of my time.
- Can you describe the question during the panel interview that one interviewer persistently asked, and explain why your responses were deemed unsatisfactory?
