& Process

About ten days after applying, I was offered a phone screening, and I could pick the date and time. Sadly, just before the scheduled interview, they had to reschedule it for three weeks later because of a scheduling conflict, though I could still adjust the time if needed. The actual interview was pretty typical and enjoyable; the recruiter was very friendly and professional. They reviewed my CV, asking for more details about my education and work history, posed some very standard interview questions (nothing surprising), and took their time to answer all my questions thoroughly. I was informed at the end that I'd be notified if my resume was passed to the hiring manager after the phone screening round concluded (they suggested I might hear back in about two weeks, but couldn't give exact dates). A little over two weeks post-interview, I got an email saying I passed the phone screening and to wait two more weeks for the hiring manager's decision. No further updates followed. Three weeks later, I sent a follow-up email, and the reply (from someone else, from my home country instead of the UK where I applied and interviewed) essentially asked me to wait another two weeks. After that, I heard nothing more. The phone screening experience was great, but the overall hiring process seems flawed, leaving me without a clear response and with mixed feelings.

I first applied online for the Environmental Scientist position after a former colleague told me about it. A company recruiter reached out and we discussed my CV and some basic details. A few days later, I had a one-hour phone interview scheduled with a manager from the team and the recruiter. This interview involved a deeper dive into my CV, education, and work experience, and they described projects related to the role. It seemed to go well, as the next day I was invited for a full interview. This took place in Europe, where I was flown out for a lunch interview with the team leader and another colleague. It was a relaxed setting but had challenging questions. Apparently, it went well, because a few days later I received an offer. I started at the company at the new year, as things were winding down before Christmas.

The phone interview happened soon after I sent my CV. It was with an HR person and the questions felt pretty general, more like a casual chat than a formal interview. I really liked the whole thing. The HR person even gave me some useful tips for future interviews. Then, I had to wait three months to hear back. They told me I'd passed the first stage and they'd let me know once they finalized the exact positions they were hiring for. After another two months, they sent me a list of jobs to pick from. However, I had already decided to look elsewhere by that point.

I applied online on the CH2m website for a few different jobs. A few weeks later, I got a call for an HR interview over the phone. Then, less than two weeks after that, I got another call saying they wanted me to come in for a final interview at their office. They sent me an email with a Final Round Interview Support Pack, which was super helpful to get ready. I got the job offer the very next day after the interview.
