First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CBIZ.
Tax Administrative Assistant
I applied to CBIZ and heard back from a recruiter for a screening interview about a week after applying. It started fast and the recruiter was professional. But then, that was it. I didn't get past the first call, which was a surprise since I had a referral. I thought I'd at least talk to the team or the hiring manager. The process just stopped after the recruiter chat, and I didn't move on. So, communication was quick at first, but it ended sooner than I expected.
- Could you introduce yourself?
Accounting Manager
I interviewed for a manager-level role in the international trade group at CBIZ. Multiple team members were excited about my background and wanted to move quickly. The recruiter even called personally, saying how much the team liked me. After what seemed like the final interview, communication went quiet. I followed up and was told another interview was needed, which I completed and felt went well. Again, I didn’t hear anything until I followed up several days later. Eventually I got an offer, but only had a day and a half to decide right before a long holiday weekend. I didn’t get a benefits summary or bonus details, even though I asked. I replied professionally, requested a few extra days to review everything, and asked about salary flexibility to better match the role scope and market standards. Instead of a conversation, the offer was abruptly withdrawn with a brief email. The experience felt confusing, like I was possibly a backup candidate. The early excitement didn’t match the end. More transparency and respect during the offer stage would have helped.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
Tax Intern
I interviewed for a winter 2025 spring internship in a legacy Marcum office in the fall of 2024. The interview was in person and it consisted of two parts. 1 hour with the tax senior manager and a tax senior, then about another hour with the tax partner. Overall, everyone was easygoing, and they encouraged me to ask questions during the majority of the interview. The few question that they did ask me were based on what was listed on my resume.
- How well do you work in a team?
Valuation Consultant
So first there's this HR screening, it's like a 15 min phone call, pretty basic stuff asking about your background and experience. Then the main interview, which is the only other one, is with a manager. They explain the job and what you'd be doing. Honestly, it felt like you can't really mess this one up, but I suspect they often decide who they're leaning towards before the interview even happens, like 80% of the time.
- What makes you interested in a career in valuations or appraisals?
