First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bertrandt.
Software Engineer
The whole process had 3 main stages: First, an HR Interview, which was like a general intro chat with HR. They asked about my background, why I wanted the job, and if I knew about the role. Also asked about salary and if I'd relocate. Then, a Technical Interview that was online. This one was all about my technical skills, like solving problems or explaining stuff related to electronics/telecom/software. They wanted to see how I solve problems. Finally, the Final Interview which was on-site. This one had people from the team or managers. It was a mix of technical and behavioral questions. I got to see the office and meet people I might work with. Sometimes they add a small test or presentation here.
- Can you give me a brief introduction about yourself, including your background and what motivated you to apply?
- What makes you want to work for this specific company?
- Could you describe your strengths and weaknesses, and how you're working on improving them?
Aerospace Engineer
The interviewer will start by introducing themselves and potentially the company and other interviewers. Then, you'll introduce yourself, likely based on your resume. This part usually covers your career path, key experiences, and what makes you interested in applying. They often ask for examples to better understand your skills and knowledge, like asking you to 'Describe a time you solved a problem.'
- Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what drives you to apply for this role? What about our company appeals to you?
- What are your main strengths and areas for development?
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
Analysis Specialist
The first interview with Bertrandt and the second interview with the client went very well. I could have started just a few months later. However, due to emigration, the deadline was too short and I declined. We agreed to talk about a very similar position with a start date more than 6 months later. Up to this point, everything was great and I had a good feeling. Unfortunately, my contact person at Bertrandt left, and afterwards, the US COO was responsible for me. From this point on, communication stalled. After several long waits for responses, and then not receiving any feedback for over 3 weeks, I decided to inform them that I was no longer interested. Someone who doesn't show me more appreciation and doesn't even provide an update cannot expect the necessary trust.
- I don't remember, specifically related to the job responsibilities.
Embedded C/C++ Developer
I had an initial call with HR about a freelance role, which is what I specified I wanted. Then, I had an in-person technical interview with the Delivery Manager, which went really well. After that, I completed a Senior Coding Game (I have 2 years of experience and did well on it). During that interview, they tried to offer me a permanent position (CDI), but I declined. After verbally agreeing on my daily rate (TJM) and them accepting it, they suddenly informed me at the last minute that the client no longer wanted a freelancer and had added new criteria. Then, they called me back to offer another internal freelance position, along with another Senior Coding Game to complete, which I again did very well on. Following that, I had a final interview with the manager, which also went great. Four days later, they told me they couldn't actually hire freelancers internally and offered me 43k, stating I only had 3 years of experience. Basically, they conducted senior-level interviews and technical tests only to offer entry-level salaries (barely enough for a talent passport visa).
- Could you introduce yourself?
- Tell me about the types of projects you worked on with your previous employer.
