Had a recruiter screening, then a technical assignment. After that, I interviewed with the team, where we talked about the assignment, feedback, and what else could be added in production. Then I spoke with the Direct Manager about processes and how we work. Finally, I had interviews with a Principal Engineer and the Director of Engineering.

The hiring process for the Senior Brand Designer at Bench started out well but ended up being quite a letdown. First, there was a recruiter call where we talked about my background, experience, and why I was interested in the job. Then, I had a second interview with a group of team members. We dove into my design process, looked at my previous work, and discussed how I could fit with Bench's brand direction. After that, I was told I was moving to the third stage and needed to get ready a presentation to show off my skills and how I could help the team. We scheduled a date, and I put a lot of work into making detailed slides in Figma, really feeling good about this chance. But, right before the presentation was supposed to happen, they said it needed to be rescheduled because the team was too busy. Even with the delay, I kept myself ready, keen to make a great impression. When I reached out to ask about a new date, they assured me I was their top pick, and at one point, they even mentioned no one else was still in the running. This made me pretty confident I'd get the job. However, despite all these promises, I later got an email saying the position had already been filled. This sudden turn of events was not only disappointing but felt a bit dishonest, considering all the time and effort I put into the process. I've never experienced anything like this before and have completely lost faith in the company. While I get that hiring can be complicated, I think it's super important for recruiters to be upfront and considerate, not just for the company's image, but also to respect the candidates who give their time and energy throughout the hiring journey.

I had a disappointing interview experience with Bench Accounting. The interviewer seemed more focused on tricking me rather than assessing my fit. The questions felt designed to trip me up, making the process uncomfortable and unprofessional. They scheduled a next step interview, but on the day, they abruptly decided not to move forward, citing my lack of experience. This was frustrating as my experience was on my resume and should have been clear from the start. The process felt disorganized and disrespectful of my time. I expected better from a company like this and hope they improve their process to be more transparent and respectful.

The interview was straightforward; the first part involved typical interview questions. However, the company promised a response and a potential second interview but never followed up, even after I sent a follow-up email. I had turned down other job offers for this one, and Bench provided the worst experience possible. I advise other students looking for opportunities here not to wait around for this company, as they don't seem to value student time.
