Data Engineer
The interview process was smooth overall. Questions focused mainly on my past project experience and the technologies I've used. It involved five rounds: the first was with the Hiring Manager, followed by two technical interviews with the team. The fourth round was with a Business stakeholder, and the final round was with the Director.

Assistant Designer
The whole process took about 2 months. People were nice, but I was disappointed with the lack of helpful feedback or consideration considering the time commitment. It started with a 30-minute HR Call, followed by a 30-minute meeting with the Direct Manager. Then there was a 2-hour Panel Interview. The Project round involved a significant time investment and was submitted via email. I was quite disappointed with this part, as after spending considerable time on the project and emailing it, there was silence for nearly two weeks. A simple confirmation or thank you would have been nice, but the lack of response made me nervous about whether it was received. Initially, I was very excited, especially after feeling a good connection with the manager. However, the prolonged and silent process made me realize it wouldn't be the right fit. If they don't value your time during the hiring process, they likely won't value it as an employee either.
- Could you design a collection of 3-4 looks for a specific brand?
Retail Development Program
So I applied for this Retail Development Program, and the process was pretty straightforward. First, there was a phone screening, then a virtual interview. After that, I was invited to a superday at their office in NC, and they covered my travel and hotel expenses. The superday itself wasn't too intense, but it did involve a not-so-great office tour, two behavioral interviews, a group discussion, and a case problem to solve. Even though the interviews went okay, I got rejected the next day or so. I tried following up, but got no response, which was a real letdown and made me question the company culture. It makes me wonder about employee turnover if they hire for this program twice a year. It was also concerning that they didn't seem to know the exact number of people in the department. One interviewer made some ageist remarks about younger professionals, and the office environment felt bleak, with one area smelling like urine. Honestly, I'd suggest looking elsewhere because other companies seem to value their employees more and don't treat you like just another number.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What makes you want to work for this company?
Human Resources Coordinator
The interview process was lengthy. The first person I spoke with was the hiring manager, then I had 4 separate interviews with other people in the HR department. I was not offered the position. Another HR coordinator position became available and the recruiter called me out of the blue and wanted me to meet with the hiring manager. This interview wasn't as involved as the first but I still did not get the position. They claimed that they liked me. Why call someone back a second time to interview just to tell them no again. Belk is not a place I would want to work
- Can you tell me about the HR systems you have experience with?
