Sales Manager
I applied for the job on the Belk website and got a call for an interview in under a week. First, I met with HR for over an hour. They asked me some questions, had me do more paperwork, and explained the job duties. They also had me take an online test to see if I was a good fit for management, which was tough because there was no time to prepare or answer questions. The next day, I interviewed with the Manager of the Entire Store. This 30-minute interview involved a quick look at my resume and me describing my past jobs and roles. After a week with no reply, I emailed the Manager. He said I wasn't a fit for that department but suggested interviewing at a nearby store. A week later, the store manager called me because other management had recommended me. I interviewed for the same position, lasting about 30 minutes, and we covered the same questions as the first two interviews. Two weeks passed with no response, so I emailed the manager again. I never heard back, and the job is still posted at both locations.
- You had to take a manager test online under a tight deadline with no prior training.
Sales Manager
The interview is a two part-process, with the first interview meeting with the sales team manager then meeting with the store manager or assistant store manager if there is one. The process is generalized questions about your work experience and what your looking at doing. If the interview goes well, you then are made an offer and a background check is done, then pre-hire packet is to be filled out and after all that is completed a training date is set. In normal situations it takes between 1 to 2 weeks to complete the entire process.
- Tell me about a challenging customer interaction you had, how you managed it, and what the outcome was.
