it was a tough company interview, felt like it went on forever. they hit me with fast technical questions, some really hard problems to solve, and also behavioral stuff. felt a lot of pressure, time was running out, and they were really watching everything i said. left me feeling anxious, like i'd been through a test, and just drained mentally.

The interview process involved an initial couple of rounds that went well, followed by a two-hour panel interview. I felt the second panel meeting went better than the first. Towards the end of the panel, I was given emails of people in the group to contact. After this, I got a rejection and asked for feedback, but didn't get any. I later noticed the job was reposted, so I reapplied and was rejected almost immediately. Still without feedback, I contacted the recruiter who set up my first interview and got the same generic rejection email as before, with no explanation. A few days later, they sent a survey about the interview experience, which they seem to be proud of. While I enjoyed talking to some of the team, I think some communication with candidates who invest significant time in the process would be professional.

So the role was for a manual tester. I have both manual and automation experience on my resume. The hiring manager asked me why I'd want to do manual testing given my automation background. The whole process took about a week. It started with a recruiter call to set up a video chat with the hiring manager, who also has a technical background. It was a friendly chat, but I got the vibe that she and the leads weren't too happy with the current testers.

Recruiter call and interviews went really smoothly. The HR person at the start was super nice, enthusiastic about the company, and treated me like a person, making sure all my questions were answered. The onsite interview was pretty standard, with a good mix of managers and team members. The questions were relevant to the job, and they gave me plenty of chances to ask my own questions and highlight my experience. HR followed up after the onsite to check if I had any remaining questions and to get my feedback on the process, which was great. The whole thing felt very open and moved fast.
